History

Mississippi State University was created through the Morrill Act of 1862 and the Mississippi Legislature in 1878 as a Land-Grant college. Through the years, MSU has provided not only agricultural support, but as the People’s University, provided attainable education for those who desire to achieve.

Strolling through the campus, there is evidence of our strong history through monuments, buildings, and people. Every student that enrolls at Mississippi State University becomes part of our history.
